This study, based on Durkheim’s theories, examined 54 suicides of children & adolescents in the region of Tyrol, Austria from 1976-1984. A significant increase of suicides was registered at the age of 15 & again at the age of 19. The authors assert that the reason for this increase is pronounced psychosocial changes which occur especially in these age group & weaken social integration. The implications are discussed. (VM)
