This letter to the editor discusses the findings of Murphy & Robins (1967) concerning recent interpersonal loss & suicide among alcoholics. The author first summarizes the study, & then details more recent studies by Rich et al., which confirm Murphy & Robins findings. He critically evaluates their methodology & wonders why more studies have not been completed to confirm or deny or their results. (VM)
