In this study, the cases of 1057 suicide victims in Auckland were analyzed in respect to age, sex, & mode of death. In the period examined (1976-86), the male & female rates rose, though there was a greater increase in the male rate. The largest number of deaths for both males & females occurred in the 20-29 age group. Drugs & poisons were the most common methods used, followed by hanging, & the inhalation of carbon monoxide from car exhaust. (VM)
