A regional analysis of suicide rates in the districts of Sri Lanka was carried out, & the results compared to an earlier regional analysis of suicide rates in the USA. Some common results were identified, such as the correlation between suicide rates & interregion migration & the birth rate which were positive in both countries. The importance of simultaneous study of two or more nations in identifying generalizable findings was stressed. (8 refs.)
