This letter to the editor reports on a study in Yorkshire about unemployment & suicide. The authors did not find any significant associations between unemployment & the suicide rate. They did find a correlation between hospital discharge rates for poisoning & unemployment. They conclude that although they did not find a connection with suicide regionally, there is evidence for and association between suicide individually & nationally. (VM)
