This study examines the role of the family environment in adolescent suicide. The author finds that the proportion of suicidal adolescents is higher in families where the parents are not living together; however, the proportion is significantly higher in families where neglect, abuse or frequent arguing occurs. The author concludes that good relationships & family harmony are protective factors against suicide. (VM)
