This article provides statistics & trends in suicidal behavior in Virginia, U.S.A. The authors also descirbe F.A.N., or the Friends Are Needed Club, which was created to strengthen the support system for troubled teenagers. It is a self conerned teen group with 2 adult sponsors. It’s goals include promoting self esteem & the message that friends must seek outside help for a suicidal friend. The groups also sponsors suicide prevention activities. (VM)
