Developed a 32-item profile of demographic & clinical variables & sampled 1,302 admissions across 10 hospitals in 1982. Weighted estimates indicated that this group of adult Ss admitted to member hospitals were younger than those admitted to other private psychiatric hospitals. 1/4 had made a previous suicide attempt, & 2/3 had engaged in psychotherapy or counselling prior to admission. Most common diagnoses at admission were major affective disorders, personality disorders & substance abuse.
