The authors of this study found that the incidence rates of suicide, homicide, robbery, burglary, theft & rape were significantly higher in Texas counties where drinking water supplies contain little or no lithium, compared to those counties with high lithium content. The same correlation was found with regard to the incidence of arrests for possession of opium & cocaine, although no association was found for possession of marijuana, or for drunkenness. (VM)
