The death of a close relative or beloved person is particularly traumatic when suicide is involved & often results in guilt & severe depression. When this occurs it is best for the patient to seek treatment with antidepressants & initiate psychotherapy. Self-help groups, logotherapy, Gestalt therapy & psychodrama are beneficial. General practitioners, psychiatrists & policemen should take the initiative in encouraging those bereaved as a result of suicide to make use of “postvention” facilities.
