This article discusses the Calgary School Board’s suicide prevention program. The board implemented suicide prevention training for staff, including a 2 day intervention training for selected staff, the development of an information pamphlet & a handbook on suicide prevention, intervention & postintervention for staff, & the formation of consultation groups. The costs & results of the program (a reduction in suicides) are also discussed. (VM)
