The role of the counseling center director in a suicide prevention program is to maximize his/her staff’s effectiveness, both presently & in the future. To do this, the director must carry out &/or oversee a broad range of related activities, including hiring counselors, providing staff development, building campus & community networks, making use of data, developing policies & procedures, handling the media, & providing accountability.
