This article compares suicide rates of different countries over the range of age groups. The author describes 3 patterns: a suicide rate which increases with age, a rate with a peak in young adulthood & a peak in old age, & a rate which peaks in middle age. Rates are given for 29 countries, & each is put in 1 of the 3 categories. Changes in rates from 1979 to 1980 are also provided. (VM)
