The author of this article argues for a developmental approach towards suicide. He asserts that all those involved in the field to suicidology should examine the full range of suicidal variables. He reviews developmental literature, describing developmental stages & suicidal development. He also analyzes 3 developmental studies of suicide. He concludes by criticizing researchers for focusing on the moment of death, & not the life span.
