This article discusses the strong relationship between treatable mental illness & suicide. The authors of this study examine all the suicides which took place in a 6 year period in urban of southern England. The authors discuss the methods used, gender & age of the victims, use of psychiatric services, & marital & unemployment status. They conlcude that an important indicator of suicide is social isolation, & long-term psychiatric care is crucial for prevention. (VM)
