This article presents research findings on suicide rates, occupational stressors, & psychiatric disorders among physicians. The authors outline how to identify suicidal doctors, & how to manage & prevent suicidal behavior. They find that suicide rates among doctors are similar as found in the general population. However, female doctors have as high a suicide rate as male doctors, whereas in the general population the female rate is 2/3 lower than the male rate. (VM)
