Investigated adults’ perceptions of the causes of suicide in young people, using a 15-item survey completed by 74 undergraduates, 53 graduate students & 54 adults from the general population. Results show a widespread view that the loss of family cohesiveness plays a significant role in suicide in youth. Academically related achievement pressures were also considered an important factor. Other findings are discussed. (16 refs.)
