This study found that people who left suicide notes in West Berlin differed in age, sex, method & the reason for suicide compared to those who did not leave notes. More women, more elderly people, more people who recently experienced the death of a partner, & more people who had philosophical reasons for committing suicide left notes. The authors conclude that research based on suicide notes may be biased towards these groups. (VM)
