This letter discusses an article by C.L. Rich et al which asserted that some substitution of suicide method occurred after Toronto enacted a sweeping gun ban. The author criticizes Rich for not breaking down his statistics by the age or sex of the victims. He also briefly mentions the prevalence of jumping suicide in cities and firearm suicides in rural areas. Rich replies that his major assertion was that limited access to guns does not stop suicides.
