This study describes the trends in suicide rates for adolescents from 1960-86 for 62 countries. Rates are provided for all ages, & are divided by sex. Sections on attempted suicide, the role of depression & of socioeconomic factors are included. The author concludes that most developing countries will experience a sharp increase in self-destructive behaviors among the young. Data on The Netherlands is examined to exemplify certain trends.
