Explored the association of self-monitoring (SM) with depression & suicidal behaviour. The self-monitoring scale & the Beck Depression Inventory were given to 145 undergraduates. SM scores were not associated with depression scores, current suicidal ideation or a history of prior suicidal ideation, threats or attempts. 8 attempters were matched with 8 nonsuicidal Ss but they did not differ on SM scores. This study found no association between SM scores & depression.
