This paper presents the recommendations of a U.S. panel on violence prevention. The paper presents statistics on homicide, suicide, & interpersonal violence. A number of recommendations are presented, including: minimizing access to firearms, focussing alcohol & drug use prevention programs on pregnant women & mothers to minimize the risk of violence (especially child abuse), & improving the identification of psychiatric disorders & treatment.
