The present report addresses concerns raised by previous studies which have failed to show that people would not switch to other methods for suicide if access to firearms was reduced by stricter gun control laws. After taking into account the possible switch to other methods the results of the present analysis show that US suicide rates are significantly predicted by state gun control law strictness.
