This letter to the editor criticizes a study’s finding that, although suicidal ideation is high at the time of HIV testing, suicidal ideation does not increase after HIV testing. The authors assert the 2 tests administered before & after testing are not accurate because research on retesting has shown a decline from 1st to 2nd tests. They also assert a natural regression to the mean. The authors of the study reply to both these criticisms in the 2nd letter. (VM)
