Surveyed 73 psychiatrists from Ontario regarding clinical, social & demographic characteristics of patients who committed suicide while under their care. Ss reported having seen a total of 122 suicides. 24% of the patients were reported to have had schizophrenia. Evidence of withdrawal, considering oneself a burden to others, & help negation were factors that had frequently been present in the month prior to the suicide. (17 refs.)
