The suicidal, terminally ill patient presents the clinican with a number of complex clinical issues. Six such cases are described, & their presentation, treatment, & outcome are discussed in light of the relevant literature. In this sample, suicidal behaviour was associated with depression that responded to treatment in a predictable way. (38 refs.)
