Used the Youth Self-Report & Profile & the Suicide Ideation Questionnaire (SIQ) to examine the competence & problem behavior of 47 female & 23 male adolescent suicide attempters (aged 13-18 yrs). High-risk Ss reported greater clinical levels of problem behavior, except on the SIQ, which did not differentiate between the 2 groups. Few differences were reported for competencies. Certain gender-related influences were noted & age played a role in the self-reports of boys but not girls. (25 refs.)
