This study investigated the relationship between religious persuasion & fear of death in physically healthy persons & terminally ill patients. No differences in the intensity of fear of death were found between believers & nonbelievers. There was also no significant differences between the groups on frequency of death thoughts or suicidal preoccupation. A majority of both groups reported that they “never/very rarely” considered engaging in suicidal behaviour. (21 refs)
