133 cases of attempted suicide were studied in order to examine whether generally accepted risk factors were applicable to the local population. The data of 70 patients who attempted & were discharged from the emergency room was compared to that of 63 patients who attempted & were hospitalized. Both groups were then compared to patients who completed suicide. The study confirmed that known risk factors were also valid in Israel & must be accounted for when assessing the danger of an attempt.
