This proceeding briefly reports on a Durkheim-based study which examined county, Standard Metropolitain Area (SMSA), & state characteristics which may contribute to suicidal behavior. For example, the author found that, at the county level, the most important factors were religious affiliation, population size, household density, urbanism, population change, age & sex. (VM)
