This article is written by the President of the American Suicide Foundation (ASF), & he describes the differences between the ASF & the American Association of Suicidology (AAS). The ASF priority is research, while the AAS’ goals include research, public awareness & education. The ASF relies on corporations & business, while the AAS relies on volunteers. The AAS also certifies centres & individuals. They are complementary, not adversarial organizations. (VM)
