This study tested 264 adolescent psychiatric inpatients & 742 high school students on the Sommerfeldt-Clark Adolescents Recklessness Scale. The following 3 factors emerged: an interest in weapons & military dangers; a combination of dangerous driving & substance abuse; & involvement with smoking, drug use & “bad company”. The personality traits of venturesomeness & impulsiveness were linked with all 3 factors. The 3rd factor was associated with inpatient status & a history of suicide attempts.
