Describes a continuous care model of crisis intervention for children that allows for brief hospitalization as well as continuous care from the emergency room admission through 1-yr follow-up. Cases are referrred from emergency departments & community agencies & involve 5-17 yr old children, 75% of whom have attempted suicide. Average length of stay is 10 days as reinstatement in the community is a goal of the model. Other features of the model are discussed. 8 refs.
