This report describes trends in mortality patterns of Candians aged 15 to 34, using data from Statistics Canada. Various causes of death were examined and suicide was included in the accidents/poisoning/violence one. It was found that suicide rates were their lowest during the 1940s, rose sharply duiring the 1960s and 1970s, peaked in the late 1970s and were stable until 1985. In 1985, 23% of male and 14% of female deaths resulted from suicide. 2 figures with suicide content are included.
