The author’s experiences in using poetry with drug abusers since the 1950s are described. The choice of poems in therapy, the isoprinciple & the psychodynamics of poetry therapy are discussed. Lists of poems helpful for anxiety, depression & insomnia are included. As part of the total treatment plan, the techniques & principles of poetry therapy in helping to overcome suicidal trends in drug abusers are presented. 4 refs.
