Only 15-40% of suicides leave notes which are found and notes of attempted suicides are often discarded. The handwriting a suicide note is written in is much more indicative of the writer’s mental state than the note’s actual content, as a suicidal state of mind hinders communication. 4 types of notes are outlined: innocent bystander, terminal, blamer, & standard operating procedure. Examples of strange notes are given. The author urges people to take potential suicide notes very seriously.
