The problem of consistent (chronic) callers to crisis hotlines is described. Usually these callers, while they are unhappy, are not in “crisis”. A crisis hotline does not help these people; in fact, they may encourage the person to stay in his present situation & not get appropriate help. Referring these people to a therapist so that actual person-to-person contact is recommended.
