This study examines the needs of teenagers who resist help from mental health professionals. The teenagers the authors talked to advised such improvements as: trust & confidence building activities like inviting a caregiver to talk about what they do, encouraging therapist self-disclosure, mutual helping, active outreach & casefinding, & a review of confidentiality guidelines.
