The author of this article asserts that educators must be alert to the early signs of behavioural problems in students — such as anxiety & depression — to reduce suicide. He suggests that positive coping should be taught in schools through developmental tasks. Teachers must then reinforce acceptable, positive behaviour that will result in the experience of success.
