This article gives reasons why more females choose nonviolent suicide methods (e.g. poisoning) than males. The idea that a violent death is one filled with suffering, as well as a desire not to disfigure their bodies, are some reasons why females select nonviolent methods of death. Often, women wish only to sleep, to retreat from the stress, and revert to the safety of the mother’s womb. Thus, they choose the ingestion of sleeping pills as a method of suicide.
