Some Results of the Response to a National Survey of Suicide and Attempted Suicide in The Netherlands

A survey of 1209 suicides & 4113 attempted suicides from 1970-71 in The Netherlands is presented. Family doctors, psychiatrists, institutions & others were surveyed on the number of suicides/attempted suicides they encountered. Family doctors & the Municipal Health Service provided the highest number of suicides encountered. By comparing numbers between sources, the number of cases of attempted suicide seen by doctors should be increased to 3000 from the doctors’ surveyed number of 2000.
