This article discusses the growing gap between available & needed mental health services for the elderly. The authors propose strategies to deal with this problem, & identify services that are currently available & measures which may influence their use. A service model developed to co-ordinate the identification & treatment of vulnerable elderly people is present. Comparisons are made with Coordinated Agency Resources for Elderly Services (CARES) system. (VM)
