Abstract
Neurochemical Correlates of Suicidal Behavior: Involvement of Serotonergic and Non-serotonergic Systems
Mann J J~~et al
This article reviews the research on neurochemical systems & suicidal behaviour. The authors review studies on both suicide victims & suicide attempters. They conclude that alterations in the serotonergic system occur in suicide completers & in more serious suicide attempters. As well, preliminary evidence suggests that there may be changes in the noradrenergic system & in the brain levels of corticotropin releasing hormone. (VM) (74 refs.)
