This study compared a group of people grieving the death of a relative by suicide, & a group of people grieving a death by a traffic accident. Unlike previous studies, the authors found that traffic accidents cause even more difficulties for the bereaved than suicide. The authors suggest this is perhaps because suicide is not always unexpected, unlike a loss due to a traffic accident. As well, the relation between suicide victims & their relatives is more likely to be troubled. (VM)
