This study found that schizoaffective patients are at high risk for suicidal symptomatology. The authors discovered 65% of schizoaffective patients displayed suicidal symptoms at least once during the course of the illness. Females were more likely than males to have suicidal thoughts & to attempt suicide. The highest frequency of suicidality was found in patients with schizodepressive episodes, followed by those with melancholic episodes. (VM)
