Presents a suicide prevention & crisis intervention model developed by the state of New York that features 4 major components: policy & procedural guidelines, intake screening guidelines, an 8-hr training program for jail officers, & a mental health practitioner’s manual. The model is based on 6 requirements that address specific service needs & system deficiencies. Early results from implementation of the model indicate dramatic decline in jail suicides.
