This article provides a biography of mathematician, Alan Turing (1873-1954). He had a difficult childhood; he had few friends, & his parents were seldom around. He was a homosexual, which was then illegal in England. He was found guilty of homosexual offenses in 1952, & was put on probation on the condtion that he receive injections of estrogen for a short time. In 1953, Turing committed suicide, although he showed no sign of depression. (VM)
