AARP Survey Finds Elderly Programs at Only Nine Suicide Prevention Centers

This article reports on a survey of U.S. suicide prevention & crisis intervention agencies. Only 9 of the 53 responding agencies reported specific activities in the area of elderly suicide. The suicide rate for people 65 and older is 50% higher than the rest of the population. Programs in San Francisco, Dayton, Ohio, & Spokane, Washington are briefly described. (VM)
