Proposes an architectural model developed to aid in understanding suicidal persons. Elements of the model include the macrocosm or sociopolitcal context; genetic-biological vulnerability; early developmental influences; personality organization & self-esteem regualtion; object relations, past & current; evidence of clinical depression & other psychopathology; the ontogeny of the relationship to death; & the situation at the time of clinical asssessment.
