In a high school of 1496 students, 2 students completed suicide in 4 days. During an 18-day period, 7 students also attempted suicide & an additional 23 manifested suicidal ideation. 75% of the members of the cluster had at least one major psychiatric disorder prior to exposure. Suggests that student friends of a victim, or those who have a history of affective disorder &/or previous suicidality should be screened for suicidality after exposure. (44 ref)
